Not only did she make and serve everything herself, but she talked to us about all kinds of things. We've never been treated better at a restaurant, and she felt completely genuine. The #1 reason this place gets 5 stars is the woman behind the hot pot. Honestly, there aren't many places like this anywhere, so I appreciate that it's one of a kind. But for adults looking to try a new hot pot place, just do it. I mean, if you don't want to take kids to a fully stocked bar, I understand. Let me say this: you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to try this place at least once and decide if it's for you. It's a very unique combination, and it would be very easy to write it off for that reason. So if music and karaoke are your thing, this is your kind of bar. It is very much a Western style bar, although it's a lounge and karaoke bar, so they have a stage but no screens for sports or anything like that. This place doesn't look anything like a typical hot pot restaurant. When we walked in, we actually kind of froze for a bit and thought we ended up in the wrong place.
So when we heard about this one's $15 deal on Yelp, we had to try it. We have it at home pretty often, and we've been to just about every hot pot restaurant in the area. My wife is Chinese, and crazy about hot pot, so we have it all the time. Between June and October, things are quiet in general, whereas the rest of the year, you can find a raging party any night of the week.My wife and I went to this place earlier in the week, and it was a very pleasant surprise.Taxis are generally safe, but if you’re taking a cab alone at night, take a photo of the taxi number on the side of the car and send it to your friends. Taxis and Uber are your best bet for getting around after hours. Pay for drinks in pesos, to avoid an inflated exchange rate. It’s a good idea to close out your drinking tab after every two rounds to keep things simple and ensure no extra charges are added. Check food and drink prices and keep track of what you’ve ordered.Keep in mind that tips are not included, and you may have to tip generously to keep the drinks coming. Some clubs have a cover charge that includes an open bar.Drinking alcoholic beverages in public places is prohibited by law in Mexico, but authorities usually turn a blind eye to discrete public drinkers who don’t create a disturbance.A few of the nicer clubs will not let you in wearing tank tops, shorts, or flip-flops, but in general, anything goes.
